By now you've read that the families in The Giver are built within the community. Individuals must apply for spouses and couples must apply for children. All are assigned, and families are limited to two children.
Many of you have wondered, can something like this happen in our world? Some of you have even shared your knowledge of these kinds of things happening. Below is an article that talks about policies in China that limited the number of children per family.

  1. Read the article.
  2. Make note of any thoughts or questions you have about it in your journal.
  3. Complete the attached quiz by typing, highlighting or underlining your answers.

Lessons and Documents for Week of 4/13

Good day to everyone!  Following, you will find two icons on which you will click to reveal the lessons and accompanying documents, and the instructions for each lesson.  You will also see the due dates for each assignment.  Once you have completed each lesson, it can be emailed to me or dropped off at school (see parent email regarding additional information).   Keep up all the great work you are doing!  I really appreciate all your efforts and self-discipline in staying on top of everything.  Way to go Liberty Panthers!

Lessons and Documents for Week of 4/20

Hello once again!  Here you go, the lessons and materials you will need for the week.  As we navigate through the rest of the school year, whether at school or at home, you will be using all the skills you have

learned:  reading carefully and following directions, thinking about what you have read and what text questions are asking you, constructing thorough and insightful answers, making connections  to what you read, and taking great care in editing your writing for grammatical and structural errors, and problem-solving.  As always, I want you to be proactive in seeking out help when needed, including consulting me and/or researching the internet (YouTube, websites, resources, etc.) for support for any concepts for which you need additional explanation or clarification.  Mrs. Sigafoos and I are here to help.

Now, go learn and do great things!  :-)

Lessons and Documents for Week of 4/27

Good day to all!  I hope things are going well for everyone.  As we enter our 7th week of remote education, I must take this opportunity to applaud my students who are working hard, learning, and staying on top of assignments and getting them turned in by the deadlines.  I want to mention, also, that we are still having considerable issues with students not turning in work with a label, name, and class period.  It's important to be sure these items are on each and EVERY assignment you submit, not just on the subject line of your

email, so you get credit for the work.  Remember, we are now grading and recording evidence of completion for every assignment, as per our district's instruction, to determine pass/incomplete for 4th quarter.  Get all your work in, and get it in on time!

Following you will find lesson information, documents, and resources you will need for this week.  Be sure to click on everything here to see what you need to know.  READ AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY.  I suggest, if possible, that you print out all the documents so you can check off what you have completed.

PLEASE make sure when you submit your work, you do so in a way and a size that we can read and print.  It is VERY important that we can read and assess your work.  We have had to request many students to re-submit work simply because we could not read it.

Keep up the great work you are doing and know that we are here for you whenever you need us.  Panther Proud!
